Short Lining Life Costs You More Than Just Materials

โฑ๏ธ Frequent Relining Shutdowns

Every lining change means 8โ€“24 hours of downtime, cooling time, and lost production. A lining that lasts 6 weeks vs 10 weeks represents a 40% reduction in relining shutdowns per year.

๐Ÿ’ธ Hidden Cost of Relining Labor

Beyond materials, relining requires 2โ€“4 skilled workers, specialized ramming equipment, and careful drying/sintering cycles. Each relining event costs far more than just the refractory material.

๐Ÿ”ด Lining Cracks & Metal Leaks

Inferior refractory with inconsistent particle size distribution or impure raw materials develops hot cracks โ€” allowing molten metal to penetrate toward the induction coil. This can destroy your coil in minutes.

โ“ Uncertainty About Lining Condition

Many foundries have no system to monitor lining wear โ€” they only discover a problem when current anomalies appear or metal begins to penetrate. By then, it may be too late.

Furnace Lining

YuRun supplies complete induction furnace lining materials โ€” from high-purity quartz silica powders for steel and iron applications to magnesia and alumina formulations for specialty metals. Our refractory materials are manufactured to strict particle size distributions and purity specifications, which directly determines how tightly the lining sinters, how resistant it is to thermal shock, and ultimately how long it lasts in production.

We supply lining materials in pre-weighed, labeled bags sized for standard furnace capacities โ€” including sintering agents, surface binder, and an installation guide tailored to your furnace model. Technical support for the sintering procedure is available via WhatsApp or video call. All materials ship globally from our warehouse with typical lead times of 5โ€“15 days.

Built to Solve Real Production Problems

๐Ÿ”ฌ

Controlled Particle Size Distribution

Lining performance depends on how tightly particles pack during ramming. Our materials are graded to exact particle size specifications โ€” ensuring consistent packing density and sintered density across every batch.

โœจ

High Purity Raw Materials

Silica linings use >99% pure quartz (SiOโ‚‚). Magnesia linings use >97% pure fused magnesia. Alumina linings use tabular alumina >99% Alโ‚‚Oโ‚ƒ. Higher purity = better sintering = longer campaign life.

๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Metal-Specific Formulations

Iron foundries have different thermal, chemical, and physical requirements than copper or aluminum casters. We provide specific formulations for each application โ€” not a generic "universal" lining.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Pre-Measured Installation Kits

Materials arrive pre-weighed and labeled for your specific furnace capacity, including primary lining, backup lining, top collar, and sintering agent. Eliminates on-site measuring errors that compromise lining quality.

๐Ÿ“‹

Step-by-Step Sintering Support

Proper lining sintering is as important as the material itself. We provide a detailed English-language sintering protocol and are available via WhatsApp to guide your team through the sintering process in real time.

๐Ÿ”

Wear Indicator Monitoring Kit

Optional: furnace wear monitoring kit that tracks electrical parameters (current, impedance) over the campaign life to estimate remaining lining thickness and schedule relining before a dangerous breakthrough occurs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right lining material for my metal?โ–ผ
The choice depends on the metal you melt and your operating temperature. For iron and carbon steel (up to 1650ยฐC), use our silica lining. For stainless steel, high-chromium or high-manganese alloys (up to 1750ยฐC), use magnesia. For copper alloys (up to 1200ยฐC) or aluminum (up to 900ยฐC), use our alumina-based lining. Contact us with your metal type and we will confirm the correct specification.
What is the most common cause of short lining life?โ–ผ
The top three causes are: (1) incorrect sintering โ€” rushing the sintering cycle leaves the lining under-bonded; (2) thermal shock from adding cold, wet, or oily scrap directly into the furnace; (3) using charge material with high slag or oxide content that chemically attacks the lining. Our installation guide addresses all three.
Can I use your lining materials in a non-YuRun furnace?โ–ผ
Yes. Our lining materials are compatible with all induction furnace brands. You will need to provide your furnace capacity, coil ID dimension (inner diameter and height), and target metal type. We will supply the correct kit quantity and installation specifications.
How long does it take to reline a furnace?โ–ผ
For a 1-ton furnace: demolition and cleanup 2โ€“3 hours, ramming 3โ€“5 hours, sintering 12โ€“24 hours (cannot be rushed). Total: 18โ€“32 hours from start to production-ready. Larger furnaces take proportionally longer. Our optimized sintering protocol minimizes sintering time while ensuring full lining bonding.
Do you supply lining tools (rammers, tampers)?โ–ผ
Yes, pneumatic rammers and hand tamping tools are available as optional add-ons. Please ask when placing your lining order. Proper ramming tools are critical for achieving the correct lining density.
